Need Not Fret is owned and operated by Kevin L. Howard.  NNF deals mostly with theology and pop culture from a conservative evangelical perspective.  NNF tackles a host of issues, a few of which are:
  • the role of women in the home and church
  • missions
  • capital punishment
  • immodesty
  • apologetics
  • racism
  • the gay rights movement

NNF features not only nonfiction but short stories and fiction.  Through NNF, Kevin hopes to:

  • provide a platform to speak the truth in love
  • create a hunger for the glory and sovereignty of God
  • help believers grow in their faith
  • assist believers in developing a rigorous and biblical theology
  • point non-Christians to Jesus
  • joyfully shake American "Christians" from their apathetic state
  • (eventually) assist up-and-coming writers by posting their works on this site

NNF aims to encourage people to put their hope in Jesus.  Two verses play a special role at NNF and its theme of encouraging people not to worry: "Do not fret because of evildoers, be not envious toward wrongdoers" (Psalm 37:1, NASB), and "Let not your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in me" (John 14:1, NASB).

Kevin grew up in Tennessee but has lived in Texas, Illinois, Massachusetts, California, Wyoming, and overseas.  He has earned degrees from The Criswell College, Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, and Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.  He's had the privilege of studying under several great men--D. A. Carson, Wayne Grudem, Haddon Robinson, Bill Mounce, Robert Coleman, Murray J. Harris, Douglas Moo, Douglas Stuart, Grant Osborne, Ray Ortlund, Jr., John Feinberg, Scot McKnight, Moise Silva, Bruce Ware, W. A. Criswell, and Danny Akin.  Kevin has served as youth pastor, singles pastor, associate pastor, campus ministry intern, and missionary.  (Also...dish washer, typist, factory worker, file clerk, secretary, mail clerk, tele-marketer, security guard, maintenance man...if it's legal, he's done it.)

Before moving back to the South to serve a church internship and finish preparing for missions work, Kevin was an associate pastor in the Northwest.  He has also worked as a writer for Campus Crusade for Christ International in southern California, and was a member at Saddleback Community Church.

Other than this website, his published works, and unpublished master's thesis, include:

  • 12/2006  Article on "A Word for Those 'Pastors-In-Training'" at www.mondaymorninginsight.com
  • 10/2005  Article on "'God's Calling' and Other Christian Lingo to Make You Sound Spiritual" at www.mmiblog.com

  • 6/1996 unpublished M.A. thesis, "Paul's View of Male Homosexuality: An Exegetical Study" (Readers: Douglas Moo and Murray Harris)

Kevin likes to fish, read, write, hang out with his family, and watch movies.  (He can often be overheard quoting lines from "O Brother, Where Art Thou?")  He is a huge fan of John Piper, Don A. Carson, Al Mohler, Wayne Grudem, Mark Dever, Paige Patterson, Danny Akin, Nancy Pearcey, Chuck Swindoll, Marvin Olasky, Rick Warren, Mike Adams, Hugh Hewitt, Dennis Prager, Michael Medved, Michael Savage, Ann Coulter, and many others.
