Some people have criticized the men who heckled Saddam Hussein as he neared his time to fall through the floor with a rope around his neck. But does it matter?
If you can go along with hanging the guy, then surely you can approve of some taunting beforehand. At least those who oppose capital punishment are being consistent when they object to taunting. Anyone who approved of Saddam's death just sounds ridiculous making a big deal of pre-death heckling.
Forget all of the feel-good talk about letting a man die with dignity. You can't die with dignity with a rope around your neck. Saddam was an evil man who died mercifully, no matter what the men said to him at his most vulnerable moment. He deserved far worse than he got.
Now he has an eternity in hell to reflect on his evilness. The taunts he heard on the gallows are the least of his troubles.
May he forever hear the dying screams of the thousands of innocent victims who died at his command.
