GAY, STRAIGHT OR TAKEN? Print E-mail

Lifetime has a new show called, "Gay, Straight or Taken?," scheduled to air on Mondays starting January 8, 2007.  "It's a dating game with a twist like no other," says Lifetimetv.com.  According to a description on IMDb.com, it's "A game show where a single woman meets three men-one is in a heterosexual relationship, one is gay and partnered, and one is single and straight."

As the female contestant develops a relationship with each man, she (and the TV audience) will be trying to figure out who's available and who's not.  As Lifetimetv.com puts it, "She has to select the one straight, single man in the trio in order to win a luxurious dream getaway for her and this available bachelor.  If she makes the wrong call, the man she incorrectly chooses gets her prize instead!"  Admittedly, it's an interesting approach.  But it also seems to be another victory for the gay rights movement.

Hetero-phobia strikes again!  We can't just live a quite simple life without Hollywood stepping in to constantly challenge what we know as normal.  I guess the nuclear family scares Hollywood.  (I'm starting to feel oppressed and may have to consult a lawyer...after all, isn't it in the Bill of Rights that I should never be offended or have my feelings hurt?)

Advancing the gay rights movement through TV shows is clever.  The more we see gay people in everyday-kind of shows, the more we begin to accept them and their lifestyles.  If kids see books in school with two dads on the cover and on the pages, it begins to look normal and moral.  Before long, we will see homosexual relations as one of several options among sexual choices.

The devil performs his craft well.  He knows that a slow and steady diet of evil will one day take us where he wants us-promoting our depravity, and, ultimately, hell.

May Christians pray against the success of the gay rights movement and live a daily life which lifts up Jesus so that no one can deny the integrity and love his children have for one another.
