(a missionary-network of Calvinists)
Welcome to FivePointMissionary, a subset of NeedNotFret.com. Would you like to list your site here?
Qualifications to be listed on FPM:
- Currently serve outside your home country and seek to win people to Christ and are a full Calvinist, or previously served outside your home country seeking to win people to Christ while being a full Calvinist, and,
- Remain in good standing with your church and mission organization, and,
- Have an evangelical website or blog, and,
- Ascribe to the Statement of Faith posted here at NNF. (You don't have to agree with everything posted at NNF but must embrace the Statement of Faith.)
- [Don't have website or blog but still want to participate?]
Purpose of FPM:
- To show the glory of God working in Christ-following missionaries who embrace the five points of Calvinism.
- To demonstrate that Calvinism doesn't dampen evangelistic fire.
- To encourage awareness and prayer for these missionaries.
- To network Reformed missionaries.
Essentials of FMP:
With a play on F-P-M, this is what it means to have your site listed here, but not necessarily in this order of priorities:
- Faithful to the five tenets of Calvinism
Total Depravity: every aspect of mankind's being (e.g., mind, will, soul, etc.) is tainted by sin's effects. Man is not necessarily as bad as he could be, but is nonetheless thoroughly sinful, and therefore, dead in his sin and needing life from God.
Unconditional Election: in eternity past God chose those whom he would save, not based on any quality that they would possess or any work that they would do or any faith that they would have but based on His good pleasure.
Limited Atonement: Christ died to atone only for the sins of his elect.
Irresistible Grace: those whom God has chosen to be saved will be saved.
Perseverance of the Saints: Christians will continue in their faith. They will not lose their salvation.
- Passionate about pointing people to Christ
The only way to know if you're passionate is that you frequently share with others the good news of Jesus.
- Ministering in a foreign country
How does FPM define missionary? A missionary is someone who on behalf of the Church crosses geographic, language, and cultural borders for the purpose of helping people become followers of the Trinitarian God. (Geographic: outside home country; Language: usually a language other than one's heart language, but if you're an American ministering in England, you qualify; Cultural: a culture other than your heart culture, but if you're a Korean ministering to Koreans in S. America, you qualify.)
Do I have to be ordained? No.
How long do I have to live in a foreign country? At least six months. If you just arrived in your new country and will be there at least six months, you qualify.
What if I'm not technically a missionary? Tentmaking is fine as long as your ultimate goal in living there is for winning souls and making disciples for Christ.
If you meet the above qualifications, please submit your site to me here. (Please write "FPM" in the subject line.) You can also submit a site about a Calvinistic missionary of yesteryear; for instance, William Carey died in the 1800s, and, therefore doesn't have a website of his own, but there are websites about him.
FPM recognizes that many Calvinistic missionaries don't have websites. FPM also understands that many Christ-loving missionaries do not hold to the five points of Calvinism but are doing a good work.
